The Mini Cooper Grand Prix

When Lightning Strikes Twice

Thirty years ago, a little green rocket called the Mini Cooper Grand Prix tore up every rule in the book. Now Mike Cooper's done something rather wonderful. He’s brought it back, and it's even better than before.

This isn't just another special edition with a few stickers slapped on. This is automotive history meets modern technology – 35 hand-built tributes to the 1990’s original that'll make your heart skip several beats and your neighbours thoroughly jealous.

The Full Monty (All 35 of Them)

Each Grand Prix gets the full treatment with no half measures, no penny-pinching, no "would sir /madam like the upgraded this or that?" Every single one of these cars rolls out with absolutely everything. Your silver anodised plaques (one on entry and one on dashboard) will proudly declare whether you're number 01/35 or 35/35 – either way, you're in very select company indeed.

Built Like They Used to Build Them (Only Better)

The Heart of the Beast

We've taken the A-Series engine and given it the full Mike Cooper treatment. Over 100 horses now live under that bonnet, thanks to a large-valve head that's been polished and ported to race standard. New roller rockers, a new twin-point fuel injection system with an upgraded ECU, and that magnificent Janspeed exhaust with its twin upswept pipes that'll announce your arrival three counties away. The exclusive GP Tuning rocker cover is the cherry on top – because if you're going to do it, do it properly.

Stopping and Going (The Right Way Round)

GP Tuning suspension keeps you planted while the upgraded alloy billet quadruple piston front calipers (in that rather fetching signal red) and new Super-fin rear drums make sure you can actually stop this pocket rocket when physics demands it. The Cooper 12- inch alloy wheels (yes the original rose petal wheels were designed by Mike’s dad John) in satin black with polished Cooper Car Co etching and Cooper centre badge look absolutely spot-on.

Where You'll Spend Your Time Grinning

The interior is pure 1990s motorsport theatre – dark green leather everywhere it matters, with black leather where it doesn't. That new dash roll houses three proper gauges (oil temp, oil pressure, clock – while you grip either a gorgeous rather modern black with green stitching Alcantara special edition Moto-Lita steering wheel or the rather more classic Leather or dark wood options. They all come with matching dashboards because consistency matters, even in madness.

The edged and bound carpet, full sound deadening, and those rather clever CCC black alloy door handles with the round holes show someone's been thinking about the details.

Modern Conveniences (Because It's Not the 1990’s)

DAB radio with Apple CarPlay means your Spotify playlist can soundtrack your B-road heroics. Bluetooth, sat-nav, phone charging – all the kit you actually need without any of the electronic nannying you definitely don't want in a proper driver's car.

The twin rear Cooper Car Co petrol caps on twin tanks are pure motorsport theatre, while the uprated headlights and white indicator lenses nail that period-correct look that'll have classic Mini enthusiasts nodding approvingly at traffic lights.

The Full Spectrum

Can't stretch to the full Grand Prix treatment? Fair enough, Mike Cooper's thought of that too. Every single GP Tuning component can be bought separately, or you can go for the Grand Prix Conversion package (engine, suspension, and brake kits) and join a rather exclusive club of sensible people who've made wonderfully impractical decisions.

Your conversion gets its own numbered plaque because even this option deserves proper recognition.

The Bottom Line

Mike Cooper is taking something brilliant and making it absolutely bonkers in all the right ways. Thirty-five chances to own a piece of proper British automotive history.

The Grand Prix isn't just a car, it's a statement. It says you understand that driving should involve all your senses, that character matters more than convenience, and that sometimes the best way forward is to look backwards and do it better.

Each one individually numbered and certificated by Mike Cooper himself. Because authenticity isn't just about the parts, it's about who signs off on the madness.

Limited to 35 cars. Built to order. Guaranteed to be brilliant.
